Joey
Valliere was born and raised in Old Orchard
Beach, ME, where he grew up with his mother and his two older syblings.
His father passed at an early age, but it's possible (and quite probable)
that Joey caught his music bug from his dad, who fronted a local band
for many years. Joey always wanted to be a popstar, penning such fantastic
lyrics as "I'll be yours / You'll be mine / We'll make love all
the time" and "If there were no children / There would
be no point in living / There would be no point in laughing or having
fun" at the ripe age of 11. He became real serious with music
in middle school, when he began studying trumpet with George Shabo. He
showed exciting promise as a young musician, and began to pick up singing
and piano on his own in the 8th grade. This is where his interest in song
writing really took off, and many of the songs he wrote in High School
(though heavily edited) will appear on his demo CD being recorded sometime
in 2009. Still, High School was a thriving time for Joey, musically, but
not theatrically. He developed moderate interests in musical theatre,
but had interests in we developement or music education as primary choices
for college degrees. Senior year changed all of this, when his class took
a trip to NYC (it was his first) and part of the itinerary (which he got
together) was to see RENT. |
